Description
Reproduction Techco 3.0L Twin Screw Supercharger Badge Overlay. Made to match the OEM with a transparent backdrop like the OEM.
Made in the USA.
Note: Installation is at your own risk. If you are unable to think through the hazards of using boiling hot water, it would be best to leave this installation to someone else.
- Lay graphic on a flat, dust free surface, in the sunlight, above room temperature for about 15 minutes.
- Start with a cold engine/supercharger.
- Remove old graphic with hot water. Simply boil an old towel in hot water and lay on top of old graphic with hot dog tongs. After a couple of minutes, wipe off old graphic with cotton cloth. Repeat as necessary. Another option is to cover all areas around the badge with thick craft paper and tape. Use a spray stripper. Wipe off. Rinse well with soap and water. Paint remover is not recommended as it can splatter and end up etching your automotive paint or any other items under your hood. Do not rub or sand the bare silver badge with anything agressive, as the sanding marks will show through the transparent backdrop of the badge.
- Wipe badge surface with acetone.
- Tack clean the badge and the front and back of the overlay.
- Apply clean, soapy water from a sprayer bottle.
- Make sure you have clean hands or you can leave fingerprints in the transparent overlay. Remove backing. Lay down on manifold and adjust for straightness. This is critical. If you fail to lay it down straight, you will have wavy lines.
- Spray the top side.
- Next, use a series of window tinting squeegees to push the water and air bubbles out of your overlay. Work from soft to firm with the squeegees. Don’t forget to apply a thin film of spray to the top of the overlay each time to lubricate the squeegee.
- After all the water and air have been pushed out of the overlay, trim any overhang of the overlay from the badge surface. If you applied properly, there will be no overhang.
- Let dry 24 hours out of direct sunlight before disturbing or heating up on an engine.
- DO NOT POWERWASH surface. Use soapy water to clean. Do not use any engine degreaser or chemicals on the surface.
Please note that the original graphic was a silk screen. This is a vinyl overlay. It may not have the 10 year durability of the original. Replacing the entire badge would be a very messy and time consuming process. We are bringing you this graphic at a reasonable price, so that you can restore the look of your supercharger, easily. If treated properly and installed properly, and not over-heated, it should survive for 4 to 7 years.
