Description
NEW G2 JB Performance design! New IHI Hellcat airfoil design is shorter than the G1 design, to allow more air to travel through. It also has a flat provision on the top side to make installation easier. The flat edge will not affect airflow. The airfoil is designed to match up to billet or ported bearing plates better than the G1 style.
What does the airfoil do?
This is a modification to smooth the direction of the air around the softplug. The airfoil is designed in a cone shape to direct air around the bearing and to the rotors to help improve performance, with a minimal design to avoid occupying valuable airspace. No special purchased ‘cone’ installation tools are required due to a small, flat space at the tip of the cone that helps with installation with a press and does not affect performance.
Installation:
Bearing plate must be removed for a proper installation. Heat up bearing plate. Remove softplug from the plug side (drive side).
Install a small amount of Locktite 380 to back arbor side of airfoil. Make sure to place Locktite where it will make contact with the sidewall of the original machined pocket that the softplug was installed into. With bearing plate properly supported on a hand press, drive side facing up, and still heated, place airfoil into pocket and square up. Place a piece of tape between the airfoil and the hand press to keep from scratching or damaging the surface. Use light press pressure and press airfoil all the way down, till the machined lip touches the bearing plate. Once cooled, the airfoil installation is complete.
NOTE: Improper installation can result in damage to the bearing plate or the supercharger. It is critical to install squarely and properly.
Off Road Use Only. Both components are made in the USA.
